What’s “Kindred Spirits” About?
“Kindred Spirits” is a paranormal reality documentary series. The TV show chronicles the adventures of the fearless duo, Adam Berry and Amy Bruni, as they tour the country helping families tormented by the ghosts of their late family members. Frightened by the mysterious happenings, these families turn to America’s leading paranormal investigators, Bruni and Berry, to help expose the vaulted secrets behind the paranormal activities.
What Happened in Season 6 of “Kindred Spirits?”
Before the premiere of season six, the show hosts warned that there would be a lot of spooky moments. We wondered, what could be really spooky when we saw Bruni and Berry investigate Waverly Hills Sanatorium in season three episode five, or Belle Grove Plantation in episode seven — same season?
“The paranormal anomalies and activity we encountered rival nothing we’ve come across before,” said Bruni. “From potentially discovering a body in a basement to finding a 300-year-old haunted shoe – this has been the most unpredictable and mind-bending set of investigations we’ve ever done.”
“In this new season, there are more family cases, new experiments that will blow your mind, and some of the craziest paranormal activity we’ve ever encountered. I feel like the universe opened up Pandora’s supernatural box and we were lucky enough to be on the receiving end. We can’t wait for the world to see every spine-chilling moment,” Berry added.
Were there spooky moments? You bet, there were lots. Here’s a highlight of three out of such moments.

Spirit Voices Captured on Tape
In the first episode of season six, “The Undertaker’s Secret,” the team visited a building once used by the FreeMasons. What they found was scary — audible spirit voices were captured three times. Firstly, there was that point when Bruni asked if a certain David Ross Drake disrespected the dead and a voice responded, “they did.” Again, Berry asked if the spirits knew David in the community and the voice responded “I did.”
Finally, Berry asked where they could go to access further insight to help their investigation and the voice responded, “down.” Just like the Maplecroft mansion investigation in season three, episode 10, it appeared the old masonic temple might be etched in evil, perhaps a cold case murder.
Spirits Seek Attention
In episode seven, “Tradition Dies Hard,” Bruni and Berry investigate a New Jersey mansion now converted into a museum. While the paranormal investigators were in the house, there were observable activities — so glaring and undeniable. First, there was the clanging of a bell from a distance. Then, there was that moment when their voice recorder picked up voices — absolutely weird stuff.
Perhaps the spirits were seeking attention, and they sure got Bruni and Berry’s — as well as that of the audience.
Odd Fellows Home is Destination Fear
Just as humans get angry, it appears Spirits also do. In episode eight, “Disorderly Conduct,” Bruni, Berry and psychic medium Coffey investigate a New York odd fellows home that used to care for orphans but is currently undergoing renovation. Well, it appears the entities within the home didn’t seem to welcome the idea. The staff of the home had reportedly alleged that they could hear the spirits of children in the home which was why the homeowner requested that Berry and Bruni come to investigate the claims.
Something or someone was clearly in the building. Bruni and Berry heard an angry yell at them to get out. This was followed by other unintelligible harsh sounds. At some point, Bruni could be seen asking Berry for a minute break just to cool off before the investigation continued. You’ve got to be brave to be in that room.
About the Cast Members of “Kindred Spirits”
Here’s a quick highlight of the main cast members of the show.
Amy Bruni is a household name when it comes to paranormal investigations. Bruni reportedly had her first paranormal encounter at age six. Rather than live in fear, she embraced her connection with the realm of the spirit. What started as a hobby has become a career.
However, before beginning her career as a paranormal investigator, Bruni worked in the health insurance sector — it’s been over 20 years since she made the u-turn. Bruni has traveled the country helping people reclaim their lives and homes from the unknown.
The American actor and producer has been featured in other paranormal TV series before “Kindred Spirits.” She was a guest investigator on “Paranormal Lockdown” (2016) appearing in two episodes.
Before that, Bruni featured as a historical researcher on “Ghost Hunters” for seven seasons beginning in 2007. She met Adam Berry during this period. She left the show in 2014 to be with her family. Perhaps, she finds her inspiration to help families connect with the spirits of their loved ones from her own ties with her family.
Bruni has a paranormal travel company — Strange Escapes — where she takes tourists who share her interests in paranormal adventures to some of the most haunted locations in the United States. She has also authored a book titled “Life With the Afterlife.” Amy Bruni co-stars and co-executive produces “Kindred Spirits” alongside Adam Berry.
Adam Berry’s passion for paranormal investigations was ignited from a highly haunting experience in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. After several years of paranormal study and research, he founded his own research team.
In 2010, Berry won “Ghost Hunters Academy,” a reality competition show organized by Syfy. This earned him a spot on the network’s original series “Ghost Hunters.”
When Berry isn’t chasing after ghosts, he is busy at Peregrine Theatre Ensemble, Provincetown, Mass, where he is an executive director. He is also a member of the board of directors at “Tim’s Fund,” a not-for-profit scholarship program that supports social activists.
The paranormal investigator also features on other paranormal shows. Recently, he was a guest on Bridget Marquardt’s podcast, “Ghost Magnet With Bridget Marquardt.” The episode was titled “Adam Berry is a Kindred Spirit.” He is married to Ben Griessmeyer.
Born in Elmira, New York, Chip Coffey is a self-proclaimed psychic. He is renowned for his numerous stage appearances and television roles. Coffey made his TV debut when he appeared in A&E Network’s “Paranormal State” in 2007.
He also appeared in “Psychic Kids: Children of the Paranormal” and more recently Destination America’s “Exorcism: Live!” Coffey joined Travel Channel’s “Kindred Spirit” in 2020 for the fourth season as the third cast member.
He lives in Atlanta, Georgia where he works as a lecturer, medium, psychic and spiritual counselor.
Is “Kindred Spirits” Season 7 Coming Out?
There is no news yet from TLC about whether “Kindred Spirits” will be renewed — but that doesn’t mean it’s been canceled either. Perhaps the producers are on break and will release updates when the time is right.
BuddyTV will continue to monitor the situation — we’ll keep you posted.
